One of the forgotten known, but effective home migraine remedies involves hydration. Nearly 80% of USA citizens don't drink sufficient amounts of water and are dehydrated to some extent. And because most folk have a tendency to eat or drink small amounts when having a serious migraine, this may intensify the pain. Dehydration, no matter how mild, may cause headaches or migraines. Though it's an unknown fact, a lot of folks can get migraine pain relief by simply consuming more water. If you suspect your migraine might be due to dehydration, a few cups of water might be just enough to offer you with headache pain relief. This treatment is probably one of the easiest home migraine remedies that I know of.

Some individuals get relief by using either a cold or warm compress to the back of the neck, forehead, or temples. Most folks report a cold compress works best, but if the cold is uncomfortable, try a warm compress.

A massage is my favorite among all of the home migraine remedies. Massage therapies are usually quite effective methods to relieve tension and reduce, or even eliminate pain. If you feel a migraine coming on, get a massage. Headaches and serious migraines are frequently caused by a build up of stress. When you're tense, every muscle in your body tightens up. A massage works to effectively relax these tight muscles and help reduce the accumulated stress in your body. By massaging the back of your neck and shoulders, as well as those located in the base of the skull, muscles relax and the pain is eliminated. Ideally, this method works best if someone else does it for you but, if that is not a choice, it is possible to do a head and neck massage on yourself.

Another of the great home migraine remedies is moderation in your consumption of alcohol and caffeine. These are common triggers. You should also make sure that you are getting sufficient sleep, and eating meals at regular intervals. Quick Migraine Remedies proved to be the foundation for the writing of this page. We have used all facts and definitions of Quick Migraine Remedies to produce worthwhile reading material for you.

Conventional home remedies for migraine headaches focus on trigger avoidance and symptom control. If you notice that certain foods or situations are frequently followed by a migraine, stay away from that food or situation in the future. Although this may seem to be commonsense, many people do not make the connection between the two events. You may be filled with astonishment with the amount of information we have compile here on Migraine. that was our intention, to astonish you.

I have been on pizotifen for a few days and wondered how long would it take to get rid of my migraines. Been on amitriptyline and norteiptyline which gave me bad sude effects and did not get rid if my migraine. The neurologist only confirmed that my gp was on the right track with medication for my migraines. Thanks for your help.

It may take several weeks for it to work, as it is a preventative drug rather than one which will treat your migraine when you have one. Therefore, it may take several weeks for the drug to build up in your system and so to prevent future migraines.
