I suffer from frequent migraines. I have been to the doctor but he says to just take over the counter migriane pills. I started buying Migraine Relief, Acetaminophen, Aspirin (NSAID) and Caffeine Tablets. It's all one pill. That's exactly what the bottle labels it as. I purchase them at Walmart. There is 250mg of Acetaminophen, 250mg of Aspirin and 65mg of Caffeine per a pill. The bottle says take no more than 2 pills within 24 hours. I have been taking these pills for the last 5 months at a number of anywhere between 3-8 pills a day. Not all at once. But with 24 hours. Not everyday. But mostly everyday. So again, my question is, am I taking too much? Will I suffer effects?

it is too much, i don't know if you will have negative side effects.
please tell your doc how many pills you have to take per day to get relief.
He/she should be willing to try some other pills that you could take fewer of.
if not, you should change docs.

Yes to many . You need to look for another way to cope with these headaches. You may need to see a different doctor. Long term you can suffer effects for taking so many. I know how bad headaches are i was also a sufferer ,although over the years they have worn off to only having one occassionally about one every month or two. Look at your life style. Are you eating breakfast. This is important other wise headaches can come on. Water is one of the latest ideas to get rid of headaches so if you feel like a headache could be coming then drink two glasses of water. You should drink at least two glasses of water or more each day. I use Tiger balm and rub that on my forehead which really helps to relieve the pain especially if I'm trying to sleep. Be careful with it not to get into your eyes. It should be available at a pharmacist. The red one is best. Try a head stand or just kneel on all fours straighten the knees off the floor and walk your feet towards the body .have your hands cupped each side of your head and the top of your head flat on the floor. elbows on the floor stay there for a few minutes and come down very slowly and stand up very slowly.
Don't forget the WATER

Over the long term this many mg's of apap, and aspirin can lead to some health issues -- so 'yes'.
But the larger issue here is your doctor not treating your migraines. This is a pet peeve of mine with some physicians. Pain is pain, migraines are debilitating. To tell a patient to take OTC medications is ridiculous for a chronic condition.
First, find another doctor.
Find a third if the second doctor doesn't want to treat your migraines.
You need (if you can tolerate) an opiate (IE: Hydrocodone, etc) to combat the pain of when your migraines are the most severe (to be used sporadically, not daily). You also need abortive medications to try when you first feel a migraine come on.. ie: Maxalt, etc. (The doctor will know what they are).
You also (depending on frequency) should be on a preventative medication taken daily to lower the frequency of your migraine episodes. An example of such medication would be topamax.
Migraines have very specific protocols any doctor should know how to treat, although you may need to see a neurologist for the best treatment.
Bottom line you aren't getting treatment for your issue,.. make that your priority. This isn't to say the OTC medications can't be used in some cases -- but they aren't really meant for true migraines. Excedrin "Migraine" is just a brand/label for a mixture of ingredients that is really beneficial for normal headaches due to capillary dilation, etc -- but not so much for neurological migraines.
Take care,

My girlfriend eats Ibuprofen like Pac Man eats little white dots. One thing i've learned from her headaches is the need for a natural migraine cure. Some medications put her to sleep for hours, some make her sick, some don't do anything at all. There doesn't seem to be silver bullet for migraines or any real natural migraine cure so i've made a list of things that at least make a difference. ...
A migraine is a complaint that is quite often suffered by other family members, all of which have probably been experiencing them from a young age. Normally lasting for a couple of hours or more when medication is administered, most are normally felt just on one side of the head but can affect someone for many days if they haven't taken anything to ease the pain. These attacks also leave the...
Of the many different types of migraine headache medication available the treatments can be separated into two groups; those that treat the symptoms and those that prevent the migraine headache. Anyone who has suffered from migraine headaches knows that as long as they can get relief they will try any type of treatment, as migraine headaches are extremely painful.

For me, alcohol is the winner. And I mean just about all forms including most wines, beer and mixed drinks. (Hey, the good news is..I will never be an alcoholic. The pain is just not worth it!) Funnily enough, when I was young, I thought a horrible pounding headache with...
